Iconic native wildflower.  This long lived perennial belongs to the sun flower family. Some call it, "the sunflower of the desert." The leaves, stems, and root are all edible steamed or raw. The seeds themselves are oil and nutrient dense. The roots have been used as a coffee subsitute.

Arrowleaf can grow up to three feet tall and produces a single, yellow sunflower-like bloom from May to June. Their roots can grow as deep as 7 feet into the earth. The striking yellow flowers are beneficial to pollinators and birds.
